Run for a Reason

Foster, Michael Zawadzki, had every intention of Running for a Reason again this year.

Michael recently underwent surgery for a torn meniscus but even that didn’t stop him from supporting the homeless animals served through the Winchester Area SPCA no-kill shelter. Even though Michael’s surgeon and his physical therapist said the marathon was an ambitious goal, they gave him the green light to participate using the Galloway Method. His goal was to finish the race! However, the universe intervened and Michael was in a car accident that reinjured his knee. Did that stop Michael? Nope. Michael recruited fellow runner and animal lover, Heather Bachand to race on behalf of the WASPCA.

Michael’s dedication to animal welfare is unmatched and the pets at the shelter are grateful for his support. Michael will be facing a challenge this year but as he said, “I am always thinking about the cats and dogs who face challenges everyday”.

This year, Heather is running in support of the WASPCA TransFUR program that has saved the lives of 2,133 pets to date by pulling them from shelters where they were at risk for space related euthanasia.

From now until the Boston Marathon, April. 20th, donations can be made.
